Birth I Postnatal Doula
Cornwall and Devon
About me

Research has shown that the most positive birth experiences for fathers were ones where they had continuous support from a doula or midwife.

My Story

I am a 42 year old, experienced mother of three, with a year of midwifery training under my belt. I live in North Cornwall. Through being a doula, I look forward to sharing my knowledge and experience, time and energy with women and their families, before, during and after childbirth. I will be able to provide that extra vital emotional and non judgmental support. Not only to the women having the baby, but to the fathers and extended family, who are also an integral part of the process of bringing new life into the world.
I originally trained as a photographer (I have a BA Hons degree in editorial and advertising photography), so would be happy to use this skill in documenting the birth journey if a client so wishes. At the very least I can be in charge of a phone camera whilst family are present during the birth! I am experienced in breastfeeding techniques and can provide support to get breastfeeding underway. I will also be able to signpost you to other sources of help and support should problems arise. I have experience in private catering too, and am a great home cook (batch cooking and freezing meals is a god send in those precious early days!). Other postnatal duties would include , cleaning, care of other siblings or simply being an ear for when your partner/husband goes back to work, or to simply take the baby for a walk while you sleep! I would love to help guide you through the transition of having a new baby to enable you to feel confident in your own ability to take the reigns of new motherhood and run with it.
